The Huffington Post rates number one today with a staggering authority over 27,000. Now how did they do it and more importantly, how can we emulate this?
The most important element I have taken on my journey of blogging and reading/learning about blogging is consistency and longevity. Blogging is not going to happen overnight but if you consistently add good content and KEEP GOING and not give up after a couple of months, you’re likely to start seeing results.
So back to Huffington, what’s on today? More about elections, Sarah Palin and various commentaries from noted journalists.
The Huffington Post claims to be the online newspaper, founded by Arianna Huffington. So is this really a blog now or more like a news service web site. What actually constitutes a blog now? To me this site is more like a well fed web site and indeed serves up breaking news and has guest writers from all over the world.
A quick browse of its job openings reveals 3 offices, New York, Los Angeles and Washington.
So even though this is technically a blog, it’s a long way from what bloggers of today can realistically achieve. It’s an enterprise. A newspaper now that started out as a blog but has outgrown its definition.
It might be technorati’s darling (and with that amount of posts and feeds how could it not be) but I won’t be commenting on it here anymore. To me, it’s not a blog. It’s a business.
